The course: During the twenty hours programmed over the long weekend for learning, divided between a maximum five participants, you can expect to make significant progress and come away with a major boost to your morale. You will find out more about the brain processes involved in learning an instrument, informing you how to practice more effectively; memory processes to help in learning; methods of playing together and leading pipe bands; the rhythm of embellishments; how to gain technical perfection (!!!); how to blow a steady tone and tune your instrument any way you wish for. The location: l’Olivier Chambres d’hôte is situated in the village of Sallèles d’Aude in the south west region of France. It has the most hours of sunshine in the whole of France – 300 days per year! The village itself is situated between the mountains and the sea and has a canal running through the middle of it, a canal that is part of the World Heritage site of the Canal du Midi. The house is an old wine grower’s house, from the nineteenth century. The accommodation maintains the character of the old house but there are all the comforts of home – ensuite bathrooms, warm rooms in winter, cool rooms in summer, wifi in all areas of the house, a guest lounge and dining room … Included in the course fees are all meals – breakfast, lunch and evening meal – prepared on the premises from local produce. The constant intellectual and physical challenges of the course will mean you will need to keep your energy levels high and you can be sure we will feed you well! And at the end of the day there is a bar in the village, a short walk away, or you may like to stay at the house, sit in the garden, and try a glass or two of the local wine – red, white or rosé, whichever you prefer. So, come for a long weekend to the sunny south of France and find out for yourself how good YOU can be at piping! | ![]() ![]() |
